CoinStats vs CoinTracking

CoinStats is a natural place to evaluate portfolio monitoring. CoinTracking also offers a tax-report workflow. Your required output should lead the comparison.

Start with the job you need done

If your immediate question is “What do I hold across my accounts?”, a consolidated portfolio view is the relevant feature. If it is “What records can I give my accountant?”, the relevant feature is the report and the history behind it. CoinStats presents connected portfolio monitoring; CoinTracking explicitly combines portfolio reporting with tax tools. Those workflows overlap, but they are not interchangeable.

The free plans are materially different

CoinStats lists 10 portfolios and 20,000 transactions on Basic. CoinTracking describes its Free tier as a portfolio view and advertises a seven-day trial for unlimited imports. Compare what remains available after a trial ends, not just what the first session allows. For ongoing use, also check connection limits, update frequency and whether automatic imports require a paid tier.

A correct balance can still hide incomplete history

Imagine a wallet that holds ten units of an asset. A balance screen can show those ten units even if the record of when they were acquired is incomplete. Portfolio monitoring answers a current-holdings question; preparing reports requires the underlying history too. Compare imported records with exchange exports and wallet activity before relying on an export for professional review.

A practical way to evaluate both

For monitoring, connect one representative account using the provider’s documented permissions and compare the displayed holdings with the original source. For tax preparation, inspect a sample export and confirm that it includes the fields your adviser needs. Expand to the rest of your accounts only after that first workflow makes sense. GOBLIXO has not connected accounts to either service or measured synchronization accuracy.
