The entry price is a tie
At the smallest paid tier, both pricing pages list $49 for up to 100 transactions. That makes the headline price a poor reason to choose between them. First check how the service counts your activity and whether your complete history fits the allowance. Comparing a partial import can make either plan appear sufficient when the finished dataset requires an upgrade.
Test your hardest account first
Start with the exchange, wallet or activity that is hardest to reconcile. Import its full history, then compare the result with your original records. Koinly documents negative-balance warnings and balance checks; CoinLedger describes tools for identifying missing cost basis. These features help surface problems, but they do not establish that either service will resolve your particular history automatically.
Confirm the tax year and the final document
Koinly prices its plans per tax year. CoinLedger describes a one-time report purchase, and its pricing page currently lists report years from 2010 through 2025. If you need a 2026 report, confirm availability before buying. Also inspect the actual export format: a transaction summary, a capital-gains report and a completed local filing are different deliverables.
How to make the choice
Use the free workflow to establish which service imports your records more cleanly and makes unresolved items easier for you to understand. Then compare the paid plan that fits the completed dataset. If you need someone to repair the records, assess professional services separately; purchasing software does not by itself include an accountant’s review. We have not performed a controlled import test of either product.
